It's hard to capture over 30 years of personal history, but here goes. After high school, I attended the University of Rochester and graduated with a degree in English. I taught high school English for a few years in northern New Jersey, and then I realized that so many of the students couldn't even read the material that I was assigning, so I pursued a Masters in the Psychology of Reading at Teachers College, Columbia U. During this time I married Geoffrey Greenberg, a Quaker Ridge alumnus! He was an urban planner then, but now he is a lawyer with a general practice in Red Bank, NJ. I have been working as a Reading Specialist for the past 25 years in a very diverse high school in central NJ. It's very different from Scarsdale High School; the kids in my classes are from every racial, ethnic and religious group around the world! Sometimes the job is very demanding, but it is mostly rewarding because I have touched the lives of so many students and really made an impact on their academic lives. |
