| Comment: | 1969: A "small" group of 30 of us went to see the Grateful Dead at the Filmore East for our Prom. It was not a "politcal" statement, but rather an opportunity not to miss... I remember very well our trip downtown a caravan of 6 cars. I got a flat on the Major Deegan that all 30 of us tried to fix. Too many cooks, too much laughter. Danger Will Robinson. Somehow, Jim Burke persevered through the purple haze and changed the tire and our journey continued. We got to the Village, parked our cars, got to our seats (the first 3 center rows!) and as we sat down, the band began to play. Life was protected. I got home at about 8:30 AM Saturday morning. Picture this: Mom's in kitchen cooking breakfast for Dad who's going off to play golf, my brother David and Father are at breakfast table, I come in from the garage and enter kitchen: Mom: Where've you been? True story. Then off I went off to bed... |
