Comment: I vividly recall this small piece of the 20th reunion: When, at the reunion dinner, the band took a break, Josh Gotbaum, Roger Altman and I saw our opportunity and took it.

During his stint with the Carter Administration, Josh had been a lead singer in a local Washington, D.C. band. In high school, Roger played bass for the inimitable Nightcrawlers. I had dabbled in guitars for years, so what the heck.

Borrowing the band's equipment (and its drummer), we called upon brother Shmerl to strap on a guitar and lead us in song. Jay Shulman, class of '67, lead vocalist for the Offbeats, also took the stage.

Instantly naming ourselves "Remnants of the Nightcrawlers, Offbeats, and Friends," we performed 3 tunes: "G-L-O-R-I-A," "Hey Joe," and "Uncle John's Band." We tried to play "Love Potion #9," but only Roger knew the chords, so we gave up after about 20 embarassing seconds. Alan Goodman, may he rest in peace, congratulated us afterwords on our rendition of "Uncle John's Band."
